ODE Montepulciano DOC

Ode Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2013 is a monovarietal Montepulciano fermented in stainless steel, conceived to bring to the fore the freshness and fragrance of its pristine fruit.

Our intention was for the wine to be consumed in the year following the harvest, although one as powerful and boisterous as this is eminently cellarable. We are in no doubt that many of Ode’s traits are truly characteristic of the potential of our vineyards and our terroir. Its intense violet-nuanced ruby colour is an enticement to explore this fragrant, oak-free Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.

The crisp varietal aromas hint at berry fruit, bottled black cherries and a whisper of wild strawberries. Ode is innately robust with good structure and concentration, admirably sustained by its bold acidity. Close-knit, perfectly evolved tannins hit the spot to give the wine its amazingly round palate profile.

The Wine

The inky deepness of the ruby colour concedes just a purplish rim, opening into a very intense nose with brisk mineral notes of pencil lead and dark fruit with blackberry to the fore, and slightly balsamic nuances in the background. The palate attack is always very soft and caressing thanks to the sweet tannins.

The typical acidity of these grapes ushers in a pleasant freshness and gives the wine its dynamic palate, making it easier to appreciate its structure and depth. A lengthy finale echoes the ripe fruit of the bouquet.
